Taking The Promise
The title of the teaching is Taking The Promise, but it could have been called How To Get Your Prayers Answered, because that is really what it's about. This teaching will be continued next week, but I believe you will like this one.

January 29, 2012          TAKING THE PROMISE

Rth 3:4 When he lies down, note the place where he is lying. Then go and uncover his feet and lie down. He will tell you what to do."

Rth 3:5 "I will do whatever you say," Ruth answered.

Rth 3:6 So she went down to the threshing floor and did everything her mother-in-law told her to do.

Rth 3:7 When Boaz had finished eating and drinking and was in good spirits, he went over to lie down at the far end of the grain pile. Ruth approached quietly, uncovered his feet and lay down.

Rth 3:8 In the middle of the night something startled the man, and he turned and discovered a woman lying at his feet.

Rth 3:9 "Who are you?" he asked. "I am your servant Ruth," she said. "Spread the corner of your garment over me, since you are a kinsman-redeemer."

Boaz ask the same question here that Naomi ask in 3:16.

Rth 3:16 Litv And she came in to her mother-in-law. And she said, Who are you, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.

This is a question that must be answered by everyone. The following verses will help you to know who you are and what your potential is.

Gen 1:24 And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so.

Gen 1:25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Gen 1:28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Notice that God created everything after it’s kind, in verse 26 God created man after God’s kind.

image >noun 1 a representation of the external form of a person or thing in art. 6 a person or thing closely resembling another. 7 likeness. 8 (in biblical use) an idol. >verb make or form an image of.

likeness >noun 1 resemblance. 2 outward appearance: humans are made in God's likeness. 3 a portrait or representation.

Deu 30:19 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live

Deu 30:20 and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

God created man in His image, and gave him authority on this earth. Now we see that man is being encouraged to use the authority that was given him to have a good life while on this earth. The choices you make determines what kind of life you will have. You are in control of your life, your choices and your words, determine the kind of life you have.

Eph 5:1 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children

If you are a Christian, you have gone to meet your redeemer, you have ask Him to spread the corner of His garment over you. Now you must answer the question who are you. Now that you have meet your redeemer what has changed in your life.

Notice the boldness of Ruth. There was nothing sexual involved in this, at this time. Ruth boldly made her purpose for being there known. She was asking Boaz to obey the word of God given by Moses.

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Deu 25:5 If brothers are living together and one of them dies without a son, his widow must not marry outside the family. Her husband's brother shall take her and marry her and fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to her.

If you come boldly into the throne of grace, will God honor His word? If a man is willing to honor the Word of God, will man do better than God? The answer is no, God always honors His Word.

Joh 3:26 They came to John and said to him, "Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan—the one you testified about—well, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him."

Joh 3:27 To this John replied, "A man can receive only what is given him from heaven.

Ruth ask Boaz to place the corner of his garment over her because that right had been given by God.

Mar 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Mar 11:24 (KJV) Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

receive >verb (Oxford) 1 be given, presented with, or paid. 2 accept or take delivery of.

receive (Webster) 1. To take, as a thing offered or sent; to accept. He had the offer of a donation, but he would not receive it.

2. To take as due or as a reward. He receive the money on the day it was payable. He received ample compensation.

The word receive according to Oxford, and Webster, is passive. The word lambano is the Greek word used to describe what Jesus said in Mark 11:24, when He said believe you receive, or believe you lambano. Lambano is not a passive word, it means to take. If Jesus had intended the word to be passive the word dechomai would have been used. See Strong G1209.

G2983

lambano?? A prolonged form of a primary verb, which is used only as an alternate in certain tenses; to take (in very many applications, literally and figuratively [probably objective or active, to get hold of; whereas G1209 is rather subjective or passive, to have offered to one; while G138 is more violent, to seize or remove]): - accept, + be amazed, assay, attain, bring, X when I call, catch, come on (X unto), + forget, have, hold, obtain, receive (X after), take (away, up).

Numbers 14:26-30. The children of Israel believe in God, but they did not believe they could take the promise of God. Faith without works is dead. Real faith will be followed by action. If you don’t believe enough to act, you are probably not believing. Mt 11:12 The violent take it by force.
